Summer Hall Application
Any student that is enrolled in a summer class AND/OR registered for fall semester is eligible for summer housing. Applications may be submitted through the and additional instructions on completing an application can be found HERE. Please note, you are not required to pay the application fee if you are residing on campus for the current academic year or you are a new applicant for the upcoming academic year and have already completed an application fee payment. We will begin accepting summer hall applications in mid-February.
Current Apartment Residents
12-Month Contracts: Current apartment residents on a 12-month contract will be automatically assigned for both summer terms.
Apartment residents that ARE NOT enrolled in summer courses and do not have an active fall assignment will check-out by 4pm on July 15th.
Apartment residents that ARE enrolled in summer courses and do not have an active fall assignment will check-out by 4pm on July 31st.
Summer Hall Location
Summer Hall Dates
Check-In:
Current residents will move from their current assignments to summer hall the Monday after graduation at latest. You will come to the Rivers Hall office between 10am-4pm to retrieve your new key. You will have until 8am the Tuesday after graduation to move your belongings and return your original key to the HRL office in Rivers Hall. One of our staff members will then assess your previous room for cleanliness and damages.
New/Incoming residents may check in on the following dates:
May Term: Monday, May 12th during business hours (9am-4pm).
Term I: Tuesday, June 2nd during business hours (9am-4pm).
Term II: Tuesday, July 1st during business hours (9am-4pm).
Check Out:
Term I: Monday, June 30th at 4pm is the check-out deadline.
Term II/Full Term: Wednesday, July 31st is the check-out deadline. Students staying on campus for fall semester will relocate directly to their assignment on July 28th.

Summer Hall Closedown
Rice and Covington will close at 4pm on Wednesday, July 31st. Any resident not remaining on campus for the upcoming academic year must be officially checked out by this time. Please see the below instructions for additional information.
Moving to Fall Assignment:
If you reside on campus during summer term (Full or Term II), you will move directly to your fall assignment on Monday, July 28th.
1. Come to the Housing & Residence Life office in Rivers Hall and pick up a key to your new room. You will have 24 hours to complete the move and check out of your assigned summer space.
2. Complete all check-out tasks (remove all personal belongings, cleaning, replacing furniture, trash removal, etc.).
3. Once you have moved all belongings and completed all check-out tasks, you will return your key to the HRL Express Check-Out dropbox at the HRL office in Rivers Hall. The dropbox is accessible 24/7. An RA will assess the condition of your room and verify any damages incurred.
Moving Off Campus
1. Complete all check-out tasks (remove all personal belongings, cleaning, replacing furniture, trash removal, etc.) that are listed on your door.
2. Once you have moved all belongings and completed all check-out tasks, you will return your key to the HRL Express Check-Out dropbox at the HRL office in Rivers Hall. The dropbox is accessible 24/7. An RA will assess the condition of your room and verify any damages incurred.
Important Information
1. If you do not return your summer hall key you will be charged a $100 lock change fee.
2. If you do not properly clean your room or replace the furniture you will be charged a cleaning fee as determined by the condition of your room.
3. If you do not officially check out of your room by completing the above tasks then you will be charged a $150 unofficial check-out fee.
4. Any resident that did not complete the check-in portion of the Room Condition Report upon moving into summer hall will be held responsible for the current condition of the room. Any damages or changes will be determined by the HRL staff member and charged to the assigned resident.
5. Please remove all bicycles from Mattielou by Wednesday, July 31st at 6pm unless they are tagged.
6. Any resident leaving campus between summer and fall term must relocate their vehicles to Parking Lot OO. The Rice/Rivers front and back lots will close at 12pm on August 12th. Any remaining vehicles will be towed.
